SESAM stands for SvEnsk SAMverkan [Swedish collaboration] for access to laboratory infrastructure. The SESAM project receives funding from the innovation agency Vinnova.

Uppsala University, Lund University, Stockholm University and the research institute RISE are the partners receiving funding from Vinnova and are responsible for implementing the project. A number of additional HEIs are involved in the project, all of them with internal resources in the form of expertise in project management, law, HEI infrastructure issues, knowledge of policy issues and university-based administration, as well as communication.
